The East End Road & Trail Runners Club was founded Feb. 2 , 1994. There were only a handful of races at the time and no organized way of finding out about races. The clubs purpose was and still is to inform runners, organize new events, and support existing events. The first year we started a newsletter and organized three new events.

The second year, our official timer told me he wasn't taking on any new events, so I had to learn how to time races. I started with my own manual system that worked fine for smaller races but pressure was mounting to computerize. Also, so many new races wanted me to organize and time races that it became a full time job. Charlie Pecora stepped in to computerize and we became Fit Results.  Charlie and I started Fit Results and I started an e mail newsletter for the East End Runner.  Subscribe to our free newsletter

Fall 2007 and 2008 we graduate to a "Chip" timing system. Fit Results will become Island Timing.

The EER&TRC is a member of the Road Runners Club of America.  The East End is becoming more and more a year round place to run and have fun. We have also been timing more "up Island" races. Calendar of events at www.eerunner.com

Our races are mostly road races and mostly 5k's. We have 3 cross country races at the 5k distance, and 4 road races at the 10k distance and one rare 8k. Most of the rest are 5k's.

Our goals are to increase participation in all east end races. Provide a method of comunication between runners. Introduce new participants to running. Promote non race events. Group runs, fun runs, kids events, breakfast runs, meetings, dinner parties. Our e-mail newsletter is free for the asking. Just fill out this quick form!

Fit Results / Island Timing is spreading out accross Long Island. Timing races in Caumsett Park, Jones Beach, Wantaugh, Bellmore. New Races in West Babylon and Sag Harbor. We specialize in the smaller community races. Our 2008 calendar can be found at www.islandrunning.com Our home is in the Hamptons, but we run all over Long Island and beyond.

We are serving the community of runners, organizing, promoting, not only races, but running as a community sport.  Our new race management and calendar site for Island Timing is www.islandrunning.com
